Flying
There are regular flights from Perth to Kununurra using a few different carriers, including Virgin Australia, Airnorth (code shared with Qantas) and our very own new regional airline Nexus Airlines.
It's easy from interstate too, using one of the three connections you can chose to fly into Perth, Darwin or Broome.
Car & Camping Hire
Flying in does not mean you are restricted to just staying in town. As Kununurra has many attractions within an hour's drive away, you may want to hire yourself a car, or, to explore further afield, why not look at hiring a camper or 4WD. The possibilities are endless to experience our unique and breathtaking landscapes.
Driving
Travelling from Broome follow the Great Northern Highway east and 22km past Wilare Roadhouse turn right, continuing to follow the Great Northern Highway for a further 816km bringing you to the intersection of Great Northern Highway and Victoria Highway. Here, turn right to Kununurra on the Victoria Highway for 46km or left 55km to Wyndham on the Great Northern Highway.
Alternatively, if you are up for an adventure, why not try the Gibb River Road. Travel 58km past Wilare Roadhouse and turn right onto the Gibb River Road for a 661km trip of a life time. Travel through rugged landscapes, swim in waterfalls before you hit the end of the track to turn left for Wyndham or right for Kununurra. Heading from the Eastern States on the Stuart Highway turn left at Katherine - you can't miss us as we are located a short 526km drive or alternatively from Darwin on the Stuart Highway, turn right at Katherine.
Quarantine in Western Australia
Help us to protect WA from pests, weeds and diseases which could arrive on items you are carrying from interstate.
Western Australia is free from many of the insect and animal pests, plant and animal diseases and weeds, which are present elsewhere in Australia. Therefore, there are strict quarantine laws on what can be bought into WA.
The Department of Agriculture and Food, Western Australia's Quarantine WA service, operates border checkpoints as a first line of defense against incursions of unwanted pests, weeds and diseases, which could arrive on freight, cargo and other items brought in from interstate.
There is a Road Border checkpoint entering Western Australia from the Northern Territory Boarder that operates 24 hours a day throughout the year.
Many items are restricted from entering Western Australia. RISK ITEMS will be asked to be placed into a quarantine bin or handed to a Quarantine Inspector.
There is NO BORDER CHECKPOINT when leaving Western Australia to enter the Northern Territory.
