Marlgu Billabong Bird Sanctuary
Overview
Marlgu Billabong is located a short distance from Telegraph Hill and borders the Ord River floodplain. The billabong and its surroundings draw thousands of waterbirds, with over 160 recorded species, including migratory birds from the northern hemisphere.
Access can be seasonal, as the roads are often flooded during the wet season.
A wheelchair-accessible boardwalk and bird hide have been built to allow visitors to enjoy the beautiful scenery and abundant birdlife. Informative signs along the short boardwalk help you identify and learn about the various birds that visit the area.
Please note that Saltwater Crocodiles inhabit the billabong, so it's essential to stay on the boardwalk at all times.
