Prison Tree

The Wyndham Boab Prison Tree, located along the picturesque King River Road that is only accessible by 4WD, is a journey that is definitely worth it. This tree was a halfway point and overnight stop between Old Halls Creek and Old Wyndham. Evidence suggests police carved an opening into the Boab Tree, and the words "Hillgrove Lockup" were etched into its trunk. Over time, countless names and initials have been inscribed on the tree, causing the original name to fade into obscurity, rendering it nearly forgotten.
